Legal cannabis production
Agriculture in the Canary Islands could have an acceleration in the production of legal cannabis that the WHO predicts an increase in demand at European level over the next 3 years by 400%. The tax model, the law on hemp in Spain, much more permissive than other European states and the opening of new consumption markets related to cannabis in the EU, have started to give new perspectives o agricultural entrepreneurs both in the production and marketing of its derivatives. Since 2018, the import of hemp into the Canary Islands has been subsidized by the EU as established by regulation 1673/2000; both raw and processed.
Production of algae for industrial and food use

Among these, 9 species of macro algae are green, 14 brown and 29 red, and they are the ones that could potentially be at better use in sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry, agricolture, the cosmetics industry or the biofuels industry. These species can be found at the Canary Islands, at the Azores, Madeira, Wild Islands and Cape Verde.
